This is from 1939. Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney - They were the first teen superstars! Busbee Berkely directed it.
They sing Good Morning (I thought it was originally from Singing in the Rain). Lady is a Tramp is playing in the background at times.
Judy Garland was fresh off of Wizard of Oz. Margaret Hamilton, the ultimate really really wicked witch was not particularly sweet in this one either, playing a social worker trying to take a townfull of vaudvillian's kids away. They, of course put on a show and save the day.
It is dated. There's an unfortunate minstrel show. At one point a guy is talking to Mickey's father, offering him a job in the big show - and Mickey's hiding under the guy's desk....
It's sweet and great. They were so young but geez could they sing...
